Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, vibration-free surface.

  1. Connect source components: Use high-quality interconnects for CD player, turntable, etc.
  2. Connect to power amplifier: Use balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA cables.
  3. Connect phono: Use ground wire from turntable to ground terminal.
  4. Plug into AC power using supplied power cord.
  5. Ensure proper ventilation around unit.

WARNING! Unit contains sensitive electronic components; handle with care. Ensure proper grounding.

First-Time Setup

Power on preamplifier; allow warm-up time for optimal performance.

  1. Source selection: Use INPUT selector to choose connected source.
  2. Volume setting: Start with volume at minimum, gradually increase.
  3. Phono setup: Adjust loading and gain for your cartridge type.
  4. Balance control: Center for equal left/right channel output.
  5. Direct mode: Engage for pure signal path bypassing tone controls.

CAUTION! Always turn volume down before powering on/off to protect speakers.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Front Panel: POWER, INPUT SELECTOR, VOLUME, BALANCE, MUTE, DIRECT MODE.

Remote: POWER, INPUT SELECTION, VOLUME UP/DOWN, MUTE, DIRECT MODE.

Input Selection: CD, TUNER, PHONO, AUX, TAPE. Phono Settings: MM/MC selection, impedance loading, capacitance adjustment. Balance Control: Adjust left/right channel balance. Direct Mode: Bypasses tone and balance controls. Mute: Temporarily silences output.

Connecting Devices

Line Level Sources: Use RCA cables to appropriate inputs. Balanced Sources: Use XLR cables to balanced inputs. Phono: Connect turntable to phono input with ground wire.

  1. Turn off all components before making connections.
  2. Use high-quality cables appropriate for each connection type.
  3. Ensure proper grounding for phono connections.
  4. Keep signal cables away from power cables to prevent interference.

Tip: Use balanced connections whenever possible for best noise rejection.

Phono Stage Setup

Supports both MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) cartridges.

  1. Cartridge type: Select MM or MC using rear panel switch.
  2. Impedance loading: Adjust for MC cartridges (100, 220, 470 ohms).
  3. Capacitance: Adjust for MM cartridges (100, 220, 470pF).
  4. Ground connection: Connect turntable ground wire to ground terminal.
  5. Gain adjustment: Use internal jumpers for MC cartridge gain.

WARNING! Always power off when changing phono settings. Match settings to your specific cartridge specifications.

Balanced Operation

XLR balanced connections provide superior noise rejection and signal integrity.

Pin Configuration: Pin 1 (Ground), Pin 2 (Hot/+), Pin 3 (Cold/-). Benefits: Reduced hum and noise, better common-mode rejection, higher signal levels. Usage: Connect balanced sources to XLR inputs, balanced amplifiers to XLR outputs.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Use soft, dry cloth for exterior. Avoid chemical cleaners.

CAUTION! Do not use liquids or aerosols. Keep away from moisture and extreme temperatures. Allow proper ventilation.
